The peal of bells was held on Wednesday, July 8th, 1914 in three hours and five minutes at the Church of St. John the Evangelist, Ranmoor. A peal of Kent Treble Bob Major, 5056 changes. Tenor 15 cwt. John Holman, treble; John Thorpe, 2; James E. L. Cockey, 3; George O. Dixon, 4; Tom O'Hara, 5; Sam Thomas, 6; Richard W. Collier, 7 and Charles Haynes, Tenor. Composed by Charles H. Hattersley and conducted by Sam Thomas.

Rung with half-muffled clappers as a last tribute of respect to the memories of the Rt. Hon. Joseph Chamberlain and Joseph Atkin ('Soda'), a member of the Cathedral Society of Sheffield.
